The Co-Op Heroes podcast was born out of our desire to contribute to the community and build relationships. It’s one thing to have experience building geospatial products and doing user-centric design, it’s quite another to get to know your customers as people first.
Even though our company focuses on vegetation management, we decided to start a podcast celebrating co-op operators in general. That way we get to really steep ourselves in the daily life of our customers. The podcast is intentionally non-promotional and makes everything about the people we are interviewing. We want to highlight the unseen heroics of everyday cooperative people, ranging the gamut from line work to the executive suite.
The cooperative model has the opportunity to lead the way in terms of what’s possible for community achievement in today’s world. We admire the co-op spirit and the seven cooperative principles. Electric co-ops are especially important given that power is the very foundation of our modern society.
From talking through severe ice-storms, to international co-op movements, to electric safety and more, we aim to celebrate those that rise to the challenges facing our co-ops today.
Sometimes we do the podcast remotely, but we do all we can, including driving hundreds of miles, to get up close and personal with our guests. Sometimes that means conferences, sometimes that means just driving a few hundred miles on a Monday morning.
We would love to hear your feedback on the show. If you’re interested in sharing a story in the podcast, please reach out at contact@coopheroespodcast.com.
